  • Ocracoke School Athletic Boosters Club

Ocracoke School is located in Hyde County, one of the poorest counties in the state, and is the smallest public school in the State of NC with just over 150 students from Pre-K through 12th grade. It is also the most isolated, with access to the Island available only via boat, private plane or the NCDOT ferry system. As such, the mission of the newly formed Ocracoke School Athletics Booster Club is to unite parents, students, faculty, alumni and the community in a common interest of supporting Ocracoke sports programs, recognizing the integral role athletics play in education and development of our students. Our goal is to instill a sense of school pride, provide financial support to the Ocracoke School Athletic programs and to recognize and reward student athletes for participation in athletic programs. Our membership is open to all supporters of Ocracoke School and its athletics programs, both local and off island, and membership shall run concurrent to the 12 month fiscal year beginning July 1 and ending June 30 of the following year. Dues shall be established and collected annually by the Board. We offer individual memberships for $25, family membership for $35, and also offer Banner Memberships for $250 for first year with a $150 renewal thereafter. Individuals and Businesses who wish to become Banner Members also receive recognition via locally made banners hanging in the new school gym. Please contact Ocracoke School if you are interested in becoming a Booster member.

  • Ocracoke Community Park

The last piece of private land on Ocracoke large enough for a ball field has been purchased by The Ocracoke Youth Center, a 501c3, for Ocracoke Community Park. What has truly been a grassroots effort, the Community has raised over 1 million dollars in pledges, grants, and donations as well as countless volunteer hours since May 2013. The first game was played in the Spring of 2015. Over 90 kids out of a school enrollment of approximately 170 participate in t-ball through middle school baseball. All games had to be played off Island involving a lot of travel. This has changed with the new field.
